Between the Races

04. June 2012In between the races there is time to reminisce about the extraordinary start of the season that the teams and drivers of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship experienced. The first race took place in Istanbul Park, which has a race track that no one was familiar with prior to the race. You almost got the feeling that there were no spectators around, because the 15.000 people simply got lost in this huge Park. The teams also felt the same way in the huge paddocks, even though there would have been the opportunity to do so many things on this big area. In fact, nobody understood why the two protagonists of the European Championship, Renault Trucks and MAN Truck & Bus, which actually showed up in Turkey with a lot of people, did not bring all their trucks in order to display them. It seems as if the mills of companies that are this big grind slowly. Some people claimed that due to time reasons – the decision made concerning Istanbul had eventually been made relatively late – they were not able to put together something big for the first race of the season. They added that from now on they consider to fully use the possibilities given by the Istanbul Park as they do regarding the events at other big race tracks.
In Misano it was again like this: With 35.000 people the number of spectators was much higher but even if fewer people had come, the paddock in the Misano World Circuit never seems empty. Countless showtrucks that draw in the crowds and many tents of rather bigger or smaller companies out of the truck racing industry showed up, because there was not one single commercial vehicle manufacturer that did not present itself. There were also many companies from the supply industry. Exactly this exhibition atmosphere is what truckracing is all about. Nowhere else is it possible to get in contact with competent spectators and thus potential customers in such an easy, comfortable and interesting environment than the truckracing one. The fact that the FIA ETRC is the most successful FIA – motorsport series right after Formula 1 can be seen on the websites www.truckracing.de/ www.truckrace.info when looking at their access figures. Last year for the first time there were 20 million page views – only with the topic truckracing. That means that www.truckracing.de/ www.truckrace.info has in part higher page views than prestigious, entirely profit-making online platforms which provide information on almost all topics concerning motorsports. On a race weekend the page views on www.truckracing.de/ www.truckrace.info go up significantly and the best one was the Truck Grand Prix at Nürburgring. The best day with the highest number of page impressions was TGP-Sunday 2011 with 316.609 impressions and TGP-Monday with 315.445 PIs. The Sunday in Istanbul made 309.558 people take a look at the website which is close to the figure of the best days. This means that per second 4 pages of the website were being accessed if it was evenly spread on 24 hours. Due to the fact that at a certain time there are a lot of users accessing the numerous pages, the servers of web portals have to be especially strong during these times. These page impressions are statistically recorded and those are only websites that contain texts – the pictures that are being accessed from thousand or even millions per day count for nothing.
