Sunday in Misano – part 1

20. May 2012Misano - In the morning the sun was still shining and temperatures reached up to 20 C°, but then there were clouds in the sky and it even rained occasionally. However, this did not have an impact on the drivers. During the warm – up session “the usual suspects” took the lead and Antonio Albacete (MAN) was even able to break away from the group of drivers. The following six were within one second. During the timed practice Albacete was even stronger and even though the other drivers improved no one was able to reach the time of the Vice Champion. Jochen Hahn (MAN) was a little bit more than a half second behind him and the rest, who could qualify for the vital SuperPole, even was one or two seconds behind Albacete. David Vrsecky (CZE) with his Freightliner was 3rd and then came the Frenchman Dominique Lacheze (MAN), followed by the four Renault-pilots Adam Lacko (CZE), Markus Oestreich (GER), Markus Bösiger (SUI) and Anthony Janiec (FRA) as well as Gerd Körber (GER) in his Iveco and the Fin Mika Makinen (MAN). In the SuperPole which is crucial for the starting grid Hahn was back on track. With 2:02,694 minutes he was more than half second faster than his runner – ups Vrsecky, Albacete, Lacko, Oestreich, who themselves were only two tenths apart. Lacheze, Körber, Makinen and Janiec were further apart. There were debates about the time of the MKR – Renault driver Bösiger: His two fastest laps were deleted, which would have placed him in the second row in the starting grid, because it was told he allegedly ran over penalty markers. MKR equips all its trucks with cameras and the team wanted to prove that Bösiger did not even touch one single marker. However, the race commission did not change their decision and that put the Renault driver on starting position number 10.
