Test laps in Jarama

03. April 2012Currently, individual MAN – teams, especially the champion Jochen Hahn (GER) and his vice – European Champion Antonia Albacete (ESP) are doing some test laps in Jarama. The Munich – based team obviously took the defending title in the team ranking and also in the overall ranking very serious. That is because everyone knows that the MKR – Renaults are also preparing for the new season. Additionally, rumors are spreading that Renault is planning on putting the 4th MKR – race trucks on the starting line during the championship and is not only going to use it for PR – purposes. Not to forget the team Buggyra, even though the Czechs have not been very successful in the last two years. David Vrsecky (CZE), however, proved with his recent 4 victories that he is one of the top drivers. If Renault and MAN keep fighting against each other with such intensity, he might be the one to laugh in the end. Last year MAN also did test laps beforehand in Jarama. These test laps are no indications for the fact that the drivers have condoned the relocation from the 3rd heat of the championship from Albacete to Jarama by the FIA World Motor Sport Council (without consulting the truck racing commission, which is actually responsible for this matter). From every part of the truck racing branch people have been protesting against this decision and it’s also been said that a majority of the teams directly address the FIA president Jean Todt. The new point system has (in which every driver of the FIA ETRC that got the places 11 to 20 should have been considered with half a point each), by the way, been quietly dropped.
