TGP not at risk at Nürburgring

18. February 2012The news from last week was a shock to all motorsport fans in Germany: The state of Rhineland Palatinate announced the premature cancelation of the lease agreement with Nürburgring Automotive GmbH (NAG) that was supposed to be in effect until 2040. That wasn’t all too surprising, since reports about disagreements between the Nürburgring GmbH as the owner (90% Rhineland Palatinate and 10% rural district of Ahrweiler) and the NAG as the operator of the Nürburgring have been all over the news. The interior secretary of Rhineland Palatinate, Roger Lewentz, said last Monday that NAG still owed them € 11.2 million in outstanding lease payments. At the same time rumors spread that this year race events could even be cancelled. However, Reinhard Moll, press officer of the TGP organizer ADAC Mittelrhein, emphasized that the Truck Grand Prix will definitely take place, as the contract will remain valid, even if the current operating company should, for whatever reason, be dropped. Around 600 volunteers and employees of the ADAC have been busy since October setting up everything for the Truck Grand Prix 2012, which will again not only feature high class motorsport, but will also provide shows, music and exhibitions of commercial vehicles. This year there will again be something which makes the fans extremely happy: The Adventure Ticket! This ticket isn’t only a weekend ticket of the best category T4plus, it also gives the visitor the opportunity to become a codriver in a race truck with more than 1000 HP. Experience has shown that this ticket (€ 265.00) is the first one to be sold out, although some tickets are still available, said Moll.
