Truck Grand Prix – Preliminary Report / Part II

Truck Grand Prix – Preliminary Report / Part II

05. July 2011Just to avoid any more possible misunderstandings, with the 26th round the Truck Grand Prix event celebrates its 25th anniversary, so that truck racing at the Ring can look back on a long tradition. But somehow the TGP video live streaming is meanwhile traditional, too. According to the natives of Cologne anything that happens for a second time is a tradition, and after the third time it’s already old costumes. And the 2011 video live streaming is even the fourth repetition in a row.
It started in 2006 with an audio live stream in the course of a study project – which was financially supported by Markus Oestreich’s “NOLimit Kartbahn”. With the aid of the ADAC Mittelrhein the audio live streaming was also installed the following year, but rather with regard to the prospect of having not only the sound available, but also – with extra effort – to be able to transmit the corresponding pictures live. In 2008 the ADAC provided the necessary infrastructure and came up with financial means in order to demonstrate what else you can get out of the internet. The response was overwhelming.
When a year later the next TGP was due, everybody expected that bartscher.net and the ADAC would again provide live TV pictures from the TGP, however, there was a lack of the necessary financial means. But then particularly Lutz Bernau went out of his way to beat the big drum for the project, talking to teams and companies till there was enough money available. In 2010 the procedure was exactly the same and will be repeated this year, too.
The ADAC Mittelrhein as the organiser will again provide the pictures and will see to it that the necessary transmission lines are available, and bartschner.net is in charge of the technical implementations.
A total of 28 high-performance streaming servers will be employed in two different data processing centres. Three additional digimago servers will ensure that all inquires from users are evenly distributed to the different streaming servers. All the truck races will be relayed; from time to time – especially when the Ring radio broadcasts – there will be short welcome videos featuring pilots, teams and/or sponsors who support the project, as well as short trailers provided by truckrace.tv and a short very nicely done film shot by Renault Trucks in honour of our truckers.

Without the support of the teams and sponsors named below
Lutz Bernau TruckSport – pilot Uwe Nittel
Team Hahn Racing – pilot Jochen Hahn
EquipoCepsa – pilot Antonio Albacete
tankpool24Racing-MB-Motorsport – pilot Steffi Halm
Renault Trucks – pilots: Markus Oestreich; Markus Bösiger; Adam Lacko
Meritor – pilots: Markus Oestreich; Markus Bösiger; Adam Lacko,
and TRO-TruckRaceOrganisation
it would not be possible to provide this Video-Live-Stream

That’s why the video live streaming is not only available on this WebPortal and truckrace.tv, but also on the websites of all teams and sponsors involved.
Another long-time tradition at the TGP is the music festival, naturally tending towards country music.
But you cannot compare the truck racing fans from back then with today’s fans, and what’s more they are a lot younger, so that for several years now there are also renowned rock and pop musicians at the Müllenbachschleife (Müllenbach loop) who make their fans rave. While last year Sasha, one of the great established singers, performed there, this time it will be an upcoming, but no less popular band, “Revolverheld” (Gunslinger), whose hits are currently played around the clock by every radio station.
Of course, all TGP tickets are also valid for entrance to the concerts at the Müllenbachschleife on Friday and Saturday. And for those people who are more interested in Revolverheld & Co. and maybe just want to get a taste of truck racing, there is a special Friday ticket. It’s not possible any more to buy online tickets in advance, but there are still tickets of almost all categories available at many ADAC offices and ticket offices at the Ring.
