New Truck Racing Organization - Presentation of the New Allgäuer Team

05. March 2010For weeks there was no verified information available regarding truck racing, and, as a consequence, a lot of – partly grotesque – rumours were circulating in the World Wide Web. On the other hand, it was a known fact since the turn of the year that – contrary to the previous assumption – Mario Kress is not going to withdraw completely from the truck racing business, but has already set about constructing two new Renault race trucks; however, he did not want to go public till now. And it was also known that Egon Allgäuer, after his highly critical – or so they say – letter of resignation sent to the FIA, had decided to participate in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship for a further year. Long before Christmas it got out that the Austrian was having plans concerning Roman Seidl, the former team boss of the Czech Matejovsky Team and the team’s pilot, Adam Lacko. Allegedly Allgäuer himself did not intend to take an active part, but officially he asked to wait for the team presentation scheduled for early March. This presentation was now conducted during an impressive press conference in Prague, where Hans-Joachim Stuck, the legendary German racer, was also present. Stuck will again take part in the Truck Grand Prix at the Ring as a guest driver.
While the above mentioned facts were not that surprising anymore, Lutz Bernau’s announcement about the formation of a Truck Racing Organization (TRO) in Paris at the end of February was rather unexpected, although this matter has been hanging in the air for some time. As we know, the former FIA Technical Delegate, Fabien Calvet, has been taking great efforts for quite a while to reconcile the interests of all parties involved. Now the Frenchman seems to have managed not only to gather all the teams around one table, but also to commit them to common goals.
