Friday in Most

29. August 2008Most - In May it had been inaugurated, the new paddock in Most. As big as four football fields, it is now the pride and joy of the Autodrom. There are no grass pavers anymore, the ground was completely tarred, and what’s more, there are now sufficient water and power connections available – the latter can even be lowered into the ground completely. Plus, there are new sanitary facilities with an adequate number of toilets and showers. This, of course, pleased the truck racers. Less delightful was the weather. The promised bright sunshine was nowhere to be seen. Instead there were big clouds obscuring the sky. But in the end there were only a few raindrops falling right at the start of the first free practice.
And again the two Buggyra pilots, Markus Bösiger and David Vrsecky were second to none. Same as on the Nürburgring, Jochen Hahn was the one who could cope with the Czech trucks rather than anybody else. Yet he is about eight tenth behind Bösiger. But really serious it will get tomorrow in the timed practice. For the rest, everything passed off in a relaxed atmosphere. The teams had ample opportunity to give each other new haircuts or to send hurriedly designed posters to friends in South Africa via internet.
Tomorrow it will be quite different. As two thirds of the circuit got a new – apparently very “speedy” – surface, new lap records might be expected. And there are some pilots who intend not to relinquish this new record to the Buggyras without a fight.
