09. May 2008Barcelona - Unfortunately the weather men were right with their forecast, however, the weather was even worse. From five o’clock in the morning there was light but constant rain. For the weekend there were even storm and intense rain warnings issued. Scania pilot Mikael Johansen had already cancelled his journey, now the British Birds Team won’t come to Barcelona either. Some technical problems could not be solved in time, and so it’s not until the round in Misano that they will be at the start with the new MAN TGS. On the circuit there were only the vehicles of the supporting programme. Big plumes of water indicated how wet the track was already. Should the downpour become even heavier during the races, there will certainly the one or other truck be skidding over the tarmac. And also the actual balance of power would not be obvious; it would rather open the doors to happenstance. And so the top teams hope that the weather gods will have mercy on the truck racers and will make the rain stop at least during the races.
