Henry Gracia is back

Henry Gracia is back

30. October 2007At the final of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship he was still noncommittal, but now there is an official announcement from Henry Gracia; he is going to return to the truck racing business. In Jarama, the Englishman – who not only is of Spanish descent, but who also speaks the Spanish language fluently – was often seen engrossed in conversations with David Atkins, the sponsors and members of the Levett family, who owns the Birds company, so that on Sunday night it was already expected that David Atkins would declare Henry Gracia his successor as the manager of the racing team. But beforehand Henry Gracia wanted to sort out some matters, such as the question of the relocation of the team’s workshop from Germany to England. As the new manager of Birds Motorsports he now recalls all those places where he very successfully worked for Chris Hodge’s Caterpillar Team. Under the wings of the agile Englishman the Finn Harri Luostarinen became European Champion twice, and this great success Henry Gracia wants to resume. It’s not certain yet, whether the Birds Team will continue with two trucks. Andy Levett already announced in advance that – after his short truck racing stint he couldn’t resist after about 20 years of racing ‘abstinence’ – he wants to pull out due to work reasons. But who knows, maybe he will backslide again, because it’s a truism that somebody who caught the truck racing ‘virus’ will hardly ever get rid of it. Or perhaps some other pilot will drive a second Birds blue painted race trucks – the team has got ample capacity.
