Hans-Joachim Stuck meets with serious Accident

28. April 2007It was planned that Hans-Joachim Stuck would participate in several rounds of the FIA European Truck Championship for the MAN Team Allgäuer, and the first one he was going to take part in is the Zolder race in three weeks’ time. This Saturday, however, during a round of the Long Distance Championship, the experienced pilot – on his BMW Z4 – was involved in a serious collision on the “Nordschleife” of the Nürburgring, which means that it’s extremely unlikely he will start at the Truck Grand Prix in Belgium, because, according to the first information given, the 56 years old Bavarian suffered a damaged lumbar vertebra and a severe bruise of his sternum.
At his truck racing debut last year on the Ring, Stuck not only cut quite a brilliant figure, but he also announced how much he had enjoyed driving a 5 tons truck, and so for a long time it was discussed, whether Stuck couldn’t possibly drive for the Allgäuer team for the entire race series. But some of the other events the very busy motor sports veteran had to attend, would have clashed with the truck racing calendar, and so it was agreed upon that the all-round pilot should at least enter three of the rounds of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship; the first one being the afore mentioned race in Zolder on May 19th and 20th.
However, the severity of his injuries will probably not allow him to drive.
