Friday in Most

25. August 2006Most - On Thursday there were again truck rides offered to the media in Most, and there was a large concours of press people. What they were disappointed about was, however, that the two mandatory models were not around this year. One of the girls fell ill and the other one didn’t want to come alone. But there some more things that did not go according to plan. The races of the BMW 1 Challenge 2006 were cancelled, and the time schedule was altered several times, but it seems that the schedule released today will be definite. And also the list of attendees was changed once more. After the official deadline father and son Rodrigues as well as Dominique Lacheze decided to register. But before the start of the free practice only the two Portuguese pilots had arrived. Dominique Orsini wasn’t there either, so that, in the end, there were 21 pilots at the start.
At today’s heats of the free practice the pilots had to drive under varying conditions. During the first heat the track was still dry, but before the start of the second run there were heavy rain showers teeming down on the Autodrom, slowing the trucks down by 8, 10 or more seconds. The one of the favourites who adjusted best to the different conditions was Jochen Hahn. Finishing 2nd on the dry track and having by far the fastest times on the wet surface he seems to continue where he left off in Nogaro.
For both days, Saturday and Sunday, the weather forecast predicts intense rain showers. And from the first Cup Race on the Nürburgring we know that with such extreme weather conditions all speculations are useless.
