Jochen Hahn with new Mercedes Axor

Jochen Hahn with new Mercedes Axor

02. March 2006In Altensteig the Hahn Racing Team is rather busy, because they are constructing a totally new RaceTruck. With these further developments of last year's truck the people from Swabia aim for top positions.
The negative 'highlights' and an emotional roller coaster was the weekend in Jarama. The Hahn truck started in the 2nd row with anew engine. But already in the first lap Jochen Hahn was involved in these both chaotic crashes. And Sunday was even more disappointing. Jochen Hahn was to start from pole but had to give up because of a damage of the steering which could not be repaired in so short a time.
The enormous potential of the Racing-Axor Jochen Hahn could demonstrate, however, at the highlight of the season at the Nürburgring. With two impressive victories he had the best result of the whole season. And some time every streak of hard luck has to come to an end. Weather permitting, the first impressions whether the new truck justifies the hopes, the team will get during the tests in Most. On the normal test track of the Buggyra team which had initiated the training sessions, Markus Bösiger is expected to put his overhauled Atkins MAN to the acid test.
For the week following the test sessions, Egon Allgäuer had invited for testing in Nogaro. At first, the Hahn team thought it would be too much trouble to go to Nogaro, but certainly there will be no snow in the south of France. And a good reason to go there and do some practice laps was the announcement that the new Goodyear Truck Racing tyres would be available for the first time. 'Truckforce' the department at Goodyear's responsible for commercial vehicle tyres, however, was rather surprised. They did not even know there would be a Racing tyre in 2006.
Jochen Hahn's last year's Axor Race Truck which was completely overhauled, is sitting in Altensteig at the moment, and they are considering to hire it out. But they did not yet make a final decision, so interested teams and pilots can still hope to get a top racing truck.
Frankie Vojtisek should have a spare truck, too, because he will get a new Renault with Volvo engine. It seems that Renault is concentrating on Vojtisek now in hopes that then they can stick up to MAN, Mercedes and Buggyra Freightliner. The ones who will suffer for it, will be the small French private teams, and it is not yet known, whether they will participate in the races at the new season.
