Heinz-Werner Lenz planning complete Race Season for 2006

08. February 2006Even though not everything is clear yet, Heinz-Werner Lenz is planning to participate in all the races in 2006, because the man from Plaidt - ever the optimist- is rather going by his gut feelings, and the kind reception his fan club gave him in Auw near Prüm at the beginning of the year, is encouraging him as well.
In this small village of about 650 inhabitants, a lot of people are active members of the Heinz- Werner Lenz Fan Club, and year in year out they go to the Truck Grand Prix, clad in their orange coloured 'King-vom-Ring' t-shirts to cheer their idol and to support him.
For the second time this year Heinz-Werner Lenz and his team came to Auw, and his fans had prepared something special for him. A long course across a residential area (H-W: 'I couldn't believe my eyes!') had been freed from snow and cordoned off by the fire brigade, so that Heinz-Werner Lenz could do some laps with his RaceTruck. Not only the entire village of Auw turned out for the event, but a lot of people from the neighbouring villages rushed to the scene, because nobody wanted to miss this spectacular affair. 'It felt like being at the Rally Monte Carlo!' Lenz told enthusiastically, 'gleaming headlights, crowds of people behind heaps of snow, and flashing cameras all the time!' And, of course, several fans were allowed to sit in the co-pilot's seat and enjoy this unique feeling.
But the passionate truck racer does not have his head in the clouds. Tests of his truck confirmed his fears that his Iveco is no match for the top trucks, but then - as always - his optimistic nature gains the upper hand, and he is sure that the help from Iveco and the support of injection specialists can compensate for the other shortcomings.
