Team Schwaben-Truck presents its new Iveco race trucks

10. April 2014Georg “Schorsch” Glöckler and his team from Ulm held the official presentation of their new Iveco race truck at the training workshop on the Iveco Deutschland premises in Ulm — the very place where the team’s story first began in 2002. The young trainees here were intensively engaged in the preparation of this year’s trucks as well.
The team has planned five outings in the 2014 FIA European Truck Racing Championship for its German driver Gerd Körber and two for his new teammate Markus Altenstrasser (AUT). Körber will race in Misano, in Spielberg, on the Nürburgring, in Most, and in Le Mans. Altenstrasser will taste action in Spielberg and on the Ring.
Provided the team’s financial situation allows, Glöckler tells us he can imagine Markus Altenstrasser driving one or two more races. Professional commitments meanwhile preclude any more appearances for Körber.
The development of the trucks continues to be actively supported by engine guru Jürg Spuler at Fiat Powertrain Technologies’ research headquarters in Arbon, Switzerland. The team of mechanics, meanwhile, will this year too consist in the main of employees of Thermo-King and Iveco Ulm.
All in all, Iveco’s interest in truck racing seems to have grown sharply, even though Team Schwaben Truck still enjoys nothing like the status the MAN and Renault teams have long been used to. But Glöckler tells us his team will henceforth be “extraordinarily strongly” supported by Iveco, and both sides are now in the best position they’ve ever been to forge future successes.
