Good news for thousands of truck racing fans is the news that Gerd Körber – the original “Mister Truck Racing” – is making a return to the sport this weekend at Nürburgring, competing in the Mittelrhein Cup.
The popular German will be debuting a new Iveco – entered by Team Schwaben-Truck, bringing some welcome new variety to the grid.
“It’s good to be back” said the driver from Rheinau after his first outing on Thursday.
“This is a completely new truck from a new team - and today was my first chance to actually drive it, so I expect a few problems. We’ve already made some changes to the front axle and we’re making good progress.
“The entry for the Mittelrhein Cup is very strong this year so I can’t realistically expect to be winning – but it would be good to get into the top five and be competitive”.
If all goes well at Nürburgring we can perhaps expect to see Körber and the Iveco in action at some other European championship races later in the season.
