The success story of the 2010 season – so far – has been the MKR Technology team with their superb-looking Renaults.
The Czech-based team – masterminded by German technical genius Mario Kress (formerly responsible for the extremely successful Buggyra team) – has really shook up the established front runners by getting drivers onto the podium at all three FIA European Championship rounds held so far this year.
Nürburgring specialist Markus Östreich is making a welcome comeback to truck racing - and has immediately established himself as a serious championship contender. His team-mate is the quietely-spoken Swiss ace Markus Bösiger – the 2008 European Champion – who has also shown plenty of speed and determination in the rapid Renault as he’s been regularly beating the Buggyras of his 2009 team.
Since the last European Championship race at Nogaro last month, Kress and the MKR Technology team have not been relaxing. Several days of testing at the Autodrom Most and some long days in the workshop have seen their development programme advancing well.
“We’re certainly moving forwards… but so are our rivals” explained Kress – who is hopeful his drivers will be making it onto the podium at Nürburgring this weekend.
